Classes for the new year... (updated: 26/12/01)
We start again in the new year on the following dates:
   Monday 7th - Beginner Lindy
   Tuesday 8th - C Jam Swing
   Thursday 10th - Intermediate Lindy and Intermediate Balboa
We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who's come to our classes and events this year. We've had a great time and are now really looking forward to making next year even better. :-)

Ryan Francois to teach at C Jam on 4th December. (updated: 30/11/01)
If you don't know who Ryan is then you're either new to Lindy Hop, or you've been living in a vacuum! Ryan is one of THE most respected Lindy Hoppers in the world and has many film, TV, and stage credits to his name. We're delighted to have him at C Jam for a special one off teaching engagement on the 4th December. Prepare to be inspired!

Workshops with Ryan Francois on Sat/Sun 1/2 Dec. (updated: 30/11/01)
Following the success of last months workshops, we're delighted to announce that Ryan Francois will be teaching more Lindy classes for us this weekend. Ryan is one of the most respected Lindy Hoppers in the world and has many film, TV, and stage credits to his name. We've already got him at C Jam next Tuesday to teach the taster classes and this is your opportunity to get more in-depth classes with him. Classes are as follows:
   Saturday 1st December
   Intermediate Lindy Hop  11.00 - 13.00
   Int / Advanced  14.30 - 16.30
   £15 per class / £25 for both

   Sunday 2nd December

Dan & Christi teaching in Bedford on Friday 30th Nov. (updated: 21/11/01)
We'll be teaching at a Xmas party organised to raise funds for 'MacMillan Cancer Relief'. The dance takes place on Friday 30th November at the Corn Exchange, Bedford. The Lindy Circle Performance Group will also be with us to perform a few cabaret numbers. It should be a great night as the Corn Exchange is one of the very best venues in the country. Why not come along and help raise some money for a good cause to boot!

Ryan is one of the most respected Lindy Hoppers in the world and has many film, TV, and stage credits to his name. We've already got him at C Jam the Tuesday before teaching the taster classes and this is your opportunity to get more in-depth classes with him. The format on the night will be different to usual as follows:
     7:00 to 8:30pm Intermediate Class
     8:30 to 10:00pm Advanced Class
The cost will be £10 for one class (1.5 hours) or £15 for the two (3 hours). Space in the studio is limited so we'll be limiting the numbers to ensure a good learning environment.

Ryan is one of the most respected Lindy Hoppers in the world and has many film, TV, and stage credits to his name. We've already got him at C Jam on Tuesday teaching the taster classes and this is a chance for beginners to get a more in-depth class with him.
The class will be from 7:30 to 8:30pm and costs £7. Space in the studio is limited so we'll be limiting the numbers to ensure a good learning environment.

Matt & Sarah to teach our classes on Thursday 1st Nov. (updated: 30/10/01)
This Thursday Matt and Sarah from Gloucester will be taking our classes as we'll be away teaching in Sweden. After the intermediates class (7-8) they'll finish (and recap) Sing's Charleston Stroll in the second class and depending on the time may do some other Charleston moves. The costs remain the same as usual (£5 for an hour, £7 for both). This is the first time these talented teachers will have taught in London so don't miss the chance to catch them this Thursday.

New Beginners Lindy Hop and Balboa course (updated: 30/10/01)
Starting on 12th November we'll be running a six week Lindy course for beginners. As our Balboa course was so popular and people have been asking us to repeat it, we thought we'd take this opportunity to also run this again. The courses will be on Monday nights, 8-9pm for Lindy Hop and 9-10pm for Balboa. They are at the Arts Educational School, 14 Bath Rd, Chiswick W4 near Turnham Green tube.

New Year's Lindy Retreat (28th Dec to 1st Jan). (updated: 25/10/01)
Join us for 4 days of intensive Lindy Hop classes in an intimate setting. With dances some evenings and planned social activities, the point of this event is to have fun! New Years Eve will be particularly special and include a gourmet dinner catered by the award winning Lettercollum House Restaurant. This is a small event aimed at intermediate and advanced dancers wanting more individual feedback and help with their dancing. We curently only have 6 places left for either leads or follows so you need to contact us quickly if you're interested.

9:20 Deluxe play C Jam Swing on 23rd October. (updated: 17/10/01)
We've got 9:20 Deluxe playing at C Jam on Tuesday 23rd October. They're one of the best swing bands around and a favourite of many C Jam regulars. Classes as usual from 8:00pm with the band's first set at 9:20pm.

No classes this Thursday 18th October. (updated: 17/10/01)
This Thursday (18 October) our regular weekly classes in Chiswick are cancelled. We will, however, be teaching at Jive Bug at the Harlington Centre in Fleet. The Lindy Circle performance group will also be performing a short cabaret.
Our intermediate lindy hop classes will resume on Thursday 25 October from 7-8pm. The second class, 8-9 pm on the 25 October and 1 November will be dedicated to Charleston steps, including Sing's Charleston Stroll.

C Jam goes ahead this coming Tuesday as usual. (updated: 30/09/01)
Last week we'd advised people that it would be cancelled because of a problem with the venue. They've now told us that we can have the ballroom as usual and apologize for any confusion caused. So it's business as usual, same time, same place. However, we'll skip the second beginners class in favour of one big class in the main room.

Dan & Christi teaching in Sweden. (updated: 28/09/01)
Full details have just been published of the Swedish camp that we're teaching at this coming November. The camp is organized by the Swedish Swing Society (SSS) who are also co-organizors of the Herrang camp. It lasts three days from Friday 2nd to Sunday 4th November. The full teaching line up is:

     Lennart Westerlund
It costs just $115 (USD) and you can get a flight with Ryan Air at the moment from £20 return including all taxes. If you're really on a budget then take a mattress and sleep at the SSS clubhouse. Let us know if you're going, it'll be good to see some familiar faces in the classes...

The vintage clothing company 'ReVamp' will have a display of clothes for sale at C Jam this Tuesday 4th September. Their shop is in Los Angeles but Annamarie of ReVamp is here in the UK for a short stay hence their appearance at C Jam.

Balboa course to continue...  (updated: 27/08/01)
Due to the popularity of our recent 6 week Balboa course we'll be continuing for a further 6 weeks. You need to have completed the Improvers course or already be of an intermediate standard in Balboa to join this course. We'll continue to refine the technique and execution of moves taught in the first course as well as introducing more complex patterns and ideas.

On Sunday 19th August members of the Lindy Circle Performance Group were filmed for a drama Documentary on the life of Glen Millar. The program will be shown over the Christmas period on Channel 4 and on PBS in the states.

The recent return of 'Lindy in the Pub' under the new name of 'Party in the Pub' was such a success that we can now confirm dates for the rest of the year. The first of these dates is 11th August. Join us for this evening of great swing music and dancing right in the centre of town. Details are:

No Thursday Classes on 5th and 12th of July.  (updated: 29/06/01)
There'll be a 2 week break in our Thursday classes at Chiswick while we are away for the Montreal Jazz Festival. The cancelled classes are Thursday 5th and 12th of July.
Regular classes recommence on 19th July with our usual Improver / Intermediate class from 7:00 till 8:00. The 2nd hour (8:00 till 9:00) will be the start of our next course for intermediate and more advanced dancers as follows:
BALBOA ( 6 Week Course beginning 19 July 2001 )
Interested in learning balboa but tired of only learning the sames steps in taster classes? This is a course designed to get beyond the basics of balboa.
Classes are held at the Arts Educational School, 14 Bath Road, Chiswick W4 (nearest tube: Turnham Green) in Room 301. The cost is either £5 per class, or, £7 if you take both classes.
Note: C Jam Swing continues on Tuesday with Martin & Jane from Swingland taking all the classes and spinnin' the discs in our absence...

Workshops with David Dalmo & Asa Rickardsson. (updated: 30/05/01)
We're pleased to present David & Asa in a week of Lindy classes. They're currently starring in the hit show 'Bounce' at the Roundhouse in Camden until June 10th. We've persuaded them to stay on for a week afterwards before returning home to Sweden. They'll be teaching classes and workshops from 12th to 15th June.

Hop the Castle 2001 (updated: 15/05/01)
The 3rd annual 'Hop the Castle' gets under way this coming weekend of the 18th to 20th May. The teachers this year are our own Ryan Francois & Jenny Thomas together with Eddie Jansson & Eva Lagerqvist from Sweden. The standard of classes looks like being even higher this year with many established Lindy teachers signed up for the advanced level.
One person has just dropped out this week, so if anyone's interested in taking their place then please contact us by Wednesday 16th at the latest.
Its a pretty intensive weekend so those of you coming should bring bags of energy to make it through the classes. Also, don't forget your costumes for the Saturday night party. See you there...

There won't be any Thursday classes for the next 2 weeks (29/03 & 05/04) since we're away teaching at the La Santa Swing camp in the Canary Islands.

JAZZ & LINDY ROUTINE ( 8 Week Course beginning 12 April 2001 )
Over the 8 weeks you will learn a Jazz & Lindy Hop routine. As well as improving your memory of new moves, this class is also designed to improve your style and give you insight to choreographing.

Hop The Castle with Ryan & Jenny and Eddie & Eva. (updated: 14/02/01)
We are happy to announce that these two top teaching couples will be at this year's Hop the Castle on the weekend of 18 - 20 May.  The weekend is known for it's intimate atmosphere and great learning environment. We expect to sell out quickly, so contact us if you're interested.

Calling All Lindyhoppers! (updated: 19/01/01)
A working party has been set up with the intention of forming a United Kingdom Lindy Hop Association with the following aims:
"To represent, promote and develop Lindy Hop in the UK and internationally".
Two meetings have now been held and minutes are available here, or, on several other UK Lindy Hop web sites. To find out more, come to the next meeting:
