New Year's Lindy Retreat
27 December 2001 to 1 January 2002
Intensive Lindy Hop Classes in an intimate setting
Lettercollum House, Timoleague, West Cork, Ireland
Lettercollum House is an old manor house set in a little village outside of Cork. The house can only fit a small group (20 people) and there is the possibility of hiring some self catering lodges nearby for additional 8 or so, but it will be extremely intimate. To check out the manor, try www.lettercollum.ie.
Dan & Christi will be teaching four days (28-31 December). Because it will be such a small event, we thought it could be a good chance to really focus on your dancing. Classes will be more about improving what you've got and exploring the dance through improvisation. We envision 2 levels (Advanced & Intermediate) with some of the classes being split and some being combined. With the numbers, a private for everyone will be included in the event.
Social Time and Dancing
Although part of the concept is to work on our Lindy Hop, we also envision this to be very social. There will be social dancing planned for some of the nights. On other nights there will be planned activities, for example; local pub crawl, Irish dancing, or seeing what is happening in Cork (there is a small swing scene there) and of course you would be free to explore the area.
New Year's Eve
There will be a big party on New Years Eve, starting with a gourmet dinner catered by the award winning Lettercollum House Restaurant.
Apart from New Year's Eve dinner, the meals will be self-catering. There would be a rota for people to get the food, make dinner or do the washing up.
£165 which includes 5 nights accommodation, New Year's party (including a gourmet dinner), dance classes and any social dancing in the Manor. The cost may be higher for those staying at the lodge. Social activities may be additional.
For meals at Lettercollum House, everyone will chip in for food each day. We expect this to be about £15-20 a day. You will only be expected to pay this if you are eating at Lettercollum House on any given day.
Flights are not included. We've found flights for less than £100 on www.expedia.co.uk. The cheapest car hire we found is £84 for the week, and we'd encourage people to share. We could arrange a limited number of pick ups from Cork airport if needed.
To book your place contact Dan & Christi on 020 8840 5554 or by e-mail. Places are limited and can only be reserved by paying the full amount
