Bal Friday – Laminu Special | | Friday 3rd May 2013 | This is our weekly swing dance night. Tonight, we will be teaching beginners balboa as usual, followed by a special introductory class to LAMINU. This class will be suitable for all levels and will replace the usual fundamentals/intermediate balboa classes.
Laminu is a swing dance that's done to very slow tempo swing music. Some people describe it as slow Balboa but it's really more than just that. It has its own particular quality of movement and structure that lend it a style and feeling all of its own.
We rotate people in the classes so you don't need to come with a partner. Comfortable, non-sticky soled shoes are recommended (ideally leather soled).
Social dancing is open to all - we play a wide range of styles and tempos of music suitable for Balboa, Lindy Hop, and many other original swing dance styles.
