The Lindy Circle Performance Group feature
in 'Chakkar' at the Paul Robeson Theatre on 7th July. The show's title
'Chakkar' is an Indian word meaning 'Circle' that represents the synergy
between
the music and dance of asian and western cultures.
|
The show is a collaborative arts venture
of The Lindy Circle and Madhurang who are an asian dance group based here
in London. The program comprises song and dance of various styles including;
Lindy Hop, Kathak, Charleston, Bhangra, Jazz, Filmi, Tap, and Hip Hop.
|
Each group will present their own pieces
before joining together for a collaborative piece. This final piece demonstrates
that although superficially very different, there are in-fact some surprising
similarities between Bhangra/Filmi and authentic Jazz dance.
|
The show will run for approximately 2 hours with a refreshment
interval half way through. The theatre has a full bar, easy parking, and
good public transport links.
