Lindy Circle News - Restart of Bal Revival
Hi all,
Lockdown has meant that it's been a long time since I last sent to this mailing list. I have taken a cautious approach to restarting again post lockdown, but I'm now rebooting my weekly Bal night again. Bal Revival will therefore be restarting again on Tuesday 2nd November.
The enforced break and the cultural/behavioural changes that the lockdown has brought about, have given me the opportunity to reconsider how I run the event. I have therefore implemented some changes to improve the night, as well as making the evening as safe as possible from a covid perspective. These changes will help address some of the traditional challenges of running regular weekly drop-in dance classes. I'm therefore positive that these changes will help make the evening better for everyone. The key changes are:
ONLINE BOOKING AND PAYMENT
Introducing booking and payment in advance allows us to go cash free and control the number of people to prevent any overcrowding. This will also save time previously wasted queuing to take money when you arrive. I have used a booking system that is designed specifically for dance events. This provides the added benefit that it allows us to better manage the ratio of leaders and followers in the classes. For clarity, this is not a "course" type booking thing. You can book a single evening at a time. Whether you book well in advance or leave it to the actual day is entirely up to you. You just need to have booked and paid online before turning up at the venue. You could therefore leave booking your ticket to the last minute - provided of course that there are still spaces left.
COVID SAFE SPACE POLICY
I am making it a requirement to show proof of a negative lateral flow test (wthin 24hrs), to gain entrance to the event. For me, rotating in classes and social dancing are fundamental to restarting this event. I therefore want you to feel as comfortable as possible when participating in the classes and when social dancing afterwards. Knowing that all your fellow students and dancers have tested negative that day will hopefully make everyone feel safer. I got opinion/feedback from a group of my core regulars about this beforehand. They all said they were comfortable with doing a lateral flow test and showing evidence of this. Furthermore, they all said this policy would make them feel safer about returning to Balboa classes again. I therefore hope that you appreciate that I have your best interests at heart in choosing to implement this policy.
If you register your lateral flow test result on the NHS site then you recieve an email and text confirming your negative test result. This takes a bit of time when you first register. However, its quick and easy subequet times once you've previously registered. You can then easily show this on your phone when you arrive at the venue. This is the preferred method. Alternativley you can show a time stampted photo of the test strip as evidence. If you do test positive on the day and thus can't attend then your ticket will of course be refunded. You can read our full COVID-19 Terms and Conditions when you book your ticket.
Other than these two changes, everything else remains pretty much unchanged. The venue, times, costs are all the same as previously.
