Lindy Circle News - Anniversay Party this Tuesday 7th, plus London Laminu Lounge

This Tuesday 7th April is the 24th Anniversary of our regular weekly Balboa Bal night. We are marking the occasion with a special party with live music (details below).
We also have the London Laminu Lounge coming up later this month. This is a Laminu workshop at our regular venue in Chiswick (again details below).

BAL REVIVAL - 24th ANNIVERSARY PARTY - TUESDAY 7th APRIL
This night is the 24th Anniversary of our weekly Bal night. We'll therefore be marking this occasion with a special party night with live music from the Ewan Bleach Quartet.
We are dropping the usual format so there will be no classes this evening. Instead there will be social dancing all evening to the wonderful Ewan Bleach Quartet. To cover the cost of the band, the price for the evening is a little more than usual at £15. Our photographer Inga will be there to document the occasion and capture everyone in your glad rags.
Ewan Bleach is a clarinetist, saxophonist, pianist, singer, bandleader, composer, teacher and session musician based in London and specialising in the early styles of jazz, ragtime, blues and swing. He is particularly interested in playing for dancing and has run many nights focusing on live music for dancing in London. Ewan's interest lies primarily in old sensibilities of pre-war music that he calls 'music for dancing and romancing'. Tonight's line up will be a four piece playing material chosen to suit Bal dancing.

LONDON LAMINU LOUNGE - SUNDAY 26th APRIL
A Laminu workshop at our regular venue in Chiswick. There are two sessions with a break for lunch in between. The first session is Laminu basics from scratch. The second session will progress with more complex elements/layers.
Laminu is a swing dance that's done to very slow tempo swing music. Some people describe it as slow Balboa but it's really more than just that. It has its own particular quality of movement and structure that lend it a style and feeling all of its own. Learning Laminu will also help improve your Balboa because it requires a sophisticated connection and good lead and follow skills.
The workshop will be at beginner/improver level. You do not need to have done any Laminu before but it will help if you have some experience in Balboa - in particular, you should ideally be familiar with the basic 'inwards' connection in Pure Balboa/Laminu.
The George and Devonshire is a lovely venue. We'll being getting our lunch there so why not join us. They have some large tables so plenty of space for us to sit altogether. We'll be placing our food order in the morning so it will be ready for the lunch break.
