Lindy Circle News - Laminu and Other Upcoming Events
Hi all,
People often ask us about Laminu, so we wanted to highlight that we have a couple of Laminu workshops coming up. In particular, if you want to attend the Bristol Laminu Workshop at the end of September you need to book soon.
You also need to get your skates on if you want to join us for the Brighton Balboa Festival in a couple of weeks time - leaders in particular, please book as soon as you can!
The annual Brighton Balboa Festival. A fun, friendly (and slightly crazy!) weekend of Balboa right in the heart of Brighton, where you can soak up the street culture and vibe of this unique city. There are workshops at three levels, with social dancing to live bands from Brighton's thriving jazz scene, and a chilled out Sunday morning breakfast dance on the pier. The main venue is just 10 minutes from the coach and train stations.
This Laminu workshop in Bristol will consist of three hours of classes, which will be followed by one of Dan’s famous talks where he will tell us more about the history of Laminu, plus some of his fascinating stories about Balboa. We’ll then have a tea dance with hot drinks, cakes and biscuits, and will have Dan DJ for us with lots of wonderful swing tunes specially suitable for Laminu. The level of the class will be beginner but if you’ve done some Balboa or Slow Balboa before then that will be an advantage.
A weekend of workshops in the beautiful Austrian capital city of Vienna with a choice of tracks in Balboa, Laminu and Slow Balboa. Full details to be announced, but this event always manages to offer something special, from "fun" tracks which break away from the typical workshop format, to all-morning dance brunches, and incredible big bands flown in from all over the world. To top it all, the workshops are taught in possibly the best dance venue we've ever seen - a brand new, custom built dance complex with cafe and bar.
The Titchfield Lindy Weekender. Three days of social dancing and workshops with top international teachers, all based around a great social venue in the lovely village of Titchfield. Core tracks in Lindy Hop are complemented by a wide selection of optional classes to chose from, including specific themed classes and taster classes in different dance styles.
