1) LAMINU AT BAL REVIVAL - TUESDAY 29th OCTOBER
We are planning an evening of beginner/improver Laminu classes in place of our regular Balboa classes this week, on Tuesday 29th October. Laminu is a swing dance that's done to very slow tempo music. Some people describe it as slow Balboa but it's really more than just that. It has its own particular quality of movement and structure that lend it a style and feeling all of its own. You can see a video here: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=584982138275876
There will be a beginners class suitable for anyone, followed by an improvers class at a slightly higher level which will build on the first class. If you do both classes you don't necessarily need any other Laminu experience to join in the second class, but it will be helpful if you have some experience of Balboa. The social dancing will have music suitable for both Balboa and Laminu.
Timings for the night are:
7.30 - 8.20pm Beginners Laminu class
8.30 - 9.20pm Improvers Laminu class
9.30 - 11pm Social dancing
Price: £8 gets you either one or both classes.
FREE ENTRY for the social dancing after 9.30pm.
A weekend of workshops in the beautiful Austrian capital city of Vienna with a choice of tracks in Balboa, Laminu and Slow Balboa. Full details to be announced, but this event always manages to offer something special, from "fun" tracks which break away from the typical workshop format, to all-morning dance brunches, and incredible big bands flown in from all over the world. To top it all, the workshops are taught in possibly the best dance venue we've ever seen - a brand new, custom built dance complex with cafe and bar.
The Titchfield Lindy Weekender. Three days of social dancing and workshops with top international teachers, all based around a great social venue in the lovely village of Titchfield. Core tracks in Lindy Hop are complemented by a wide selection of optional classes to chose from, including specific themed classes and taster classes in different dance styles.
The annual Brighton Balboa Festival. A fun, friendly (and slightly crazy!) weekend of Balboa right in the heart of Brighton, where you can soak up the street culture and vibe of this unique city. There are workshops at three levels, with social dancing to live bands from Brighton's thriving jazz scene, and a chilled out Sunday morning breakfast dance on the pier. The main venue is just 10 minutes from the coach and train stations.
